A documentary filmmaker granted special access to film the Trump family said this week that he thought Eric Trump seemed to fear his older brother, Donald Trump Jr.
During a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" session, Alex Holder responded to a question about the "smaller moments" in the Trump family that surprised him.
In response, Holder wrote: "Eric seemed to be pretty scared of his older brother."
When asked by a Redditor why this was so, Holder replied: "Have you seen Don Jr???"
Holder also revealed more tidbits about the Trump children, including the observation that "Eric was the friendliest" and that he didn't think Donald Jr. liked him very much.
He also commented that Eric was the "least like his father" and that Donald Jr. and Ivanka Trump — former President Donald Trump's eldest son and daughter, respectively — were "very similar to their old man."
When asked if he thought there was "genuine love" in the family, Holder said the Trumps had a "pretty unusual family dynamic" that was "all about supporting 'Dad' — at all costs."
Holder said in another response during the AMA that Trump seemed almost bored by the topic of his wife and children when they came up in conversation.
As for how the Trump family treated him, Holder said: "It's interesting, they are a real estate family from New York – so they are good at the charm and schmooze… but to be honest it's pretty transparent…"
When asked about Trump, Holder said that the former president wears "a huge amount of makeup," which he puts on himself in a process that takes "a couple of hours each morning." He also commented that Trump did say racist things off-camera and that the former president's diet mainly consisted of burgers and Diet Coke.
In an episode of Yahoo News' "Skullduggery" podcast aired in June, Holder compared the Trumps to the fictional, scheming Roy family on HBO's "Succession" TV series. In July, he also told Insider that Trump's children were split between denial and rage after their father lost the 2020 election.
Representatives for the Trump Organization and staff at Trump's post-presidential press office did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Insider.
