With nine different riders winning races during the 2016 MotoGP season, we could be in the midst of a race revolution.
Three-time MotoGP winner Marc Marquez eventually took the motorcycle racing crown, but the field is certainly more open and the chances of a new champion are high.
The first race of the new season takes place on Sunday, March 26, at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar. See the five slides below for the bookmakers’ favourites this season.
Maverick Viñales has wowed crowds in pre-season.
Fans, the media, and the sports industry in general love the introduction of a gifted young athlete. In MotoGP, Maverick Viñales is that athlete.
A Moto3 champion in 2013 at just 18-years-old, Viñales won back-to-back Rookie of the Year honours at Moto2 in 2014 and then MotoGP in 2015. Last year he finished fourth, now he is tipped to win the whole thing.

Marc Marquez is a natural born winner.
A baby-faced assassin, Marquez will be among the favourites at every race on the MotoGP calendar this year.
The Spaniard has been a tour de force since moving up to MotoGP in 2013, winning three of the four championships available to him.
If he overcomes equally-impressive riders who have the benefit of superior bikes then 2017 would be his most impressive season yet.

Race legend Valentino Rossi is as motivated as ever.
When you think of MotoGP, you think of Valentino Rossi. He's the greatest of all-time and, despite his veteran status, still rides like a daredevil boy-racer.
His Yamaha YZR-M1 looks like one of the best bikes this year but 22-year-old favourite Maverick Viñales just happens to be his Yamaha team-mate.
The rivalry between Rossi and Viñales could become the storyline of the season.

Jorge Lorenzo could be the best outside bet.
Jorge Lorenzo was married to Yamaha for nine seasons but is now revving the engine of his new partner, the Ducati GP17.
If Lorenzo, an aggressive racer, and Ducati - a constructor fast emerging as a clear title threat - get off to a good start then the Spaniard could be a strong outside bet for the championship.

Andrea Dovizioso will hope his consistency will pay dividends.
Dovizioso may have only won two MotoGP races in nine years but his vast collection of podium finishes are clearly an asset.
In 2011 he finished third in the championship despite never winning a race - a testament to his podium consistency.
The Italian is a hugely competent rider but with younger and quicker rivals, he is not the top pick.
