1. US President Donald Trump suggested easing sanctions on Russia. Trump chatted with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday at the APEC summit in Vietnam, and the two countries have agreed to continue joint efforts to stabilize Syria.
2. Forty British MPs have agreed to sign a letter of no-confidence in UK Prime Minister Theresa May. Only eight more signatures in May’s party are required to trigger a party leadership contest.
3. Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte told Putin he will buy arms from Russia. The Philippines was going to buy more than 20,000 assault rifles from the US, but some senators, concerned with Duterte’s human rights record and rising killings, blocked that sale.
4. Israel will continue military strikes in Syria, despite US and Russian efforts towards a ceasefire. The US and Russia called for an expansion of a truce along the Syrian areas bordering Israel and Jordan.
5. Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad al Hariri warned his country could face Gulf Arab sanctions. Hariri is politically supported by Saudi Arabia and is part of a joint government that includes Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group.
6. The US has carried out three drone strikes in Somalia against Al Shabab and ISIS. The US has carried out 26 strikes in Somalia against extremist targets in 2017.
7. Turkey denied reports of a $15 million plot involving Trump's former security adviser Michael Flynn. The plot to deliver a wanted Turkish cleric is said to have involved Flynn who is currently under scrutiny from special counsel Robert Mueller.
8. Slovenia's President Borut Pahor was re-elected for a second term. Pahor fell short of securing a majority in the first round election last month.
9. A powerful 7.2 earthquake killed more than 100 people near the border of Iraq and Iran. Iranian state media said at least 140 were killed, and over 800 people injured.
10. Trump taunted Kim Jong Un after North Korea called him a "lunatic old man." Trump responded by tweeting that he would "never call [Kim] 'short and fat.'
