Hello! Here’s what’s happening on Monday.

1. The first four Thai boys were rescued after being trapped in a cave for two weeks. They have been taken to the hospital, though are unlikely to see their family soon. The next rescue mission for the remaining 8 team members and their coach resumes on Monday.

2. UK Brexit secretary David Davis resigned. Davis told UK Prime Minister Theresa May that a hard Brexit is looking “less and less likely” and that he didn’t want to be a “reluctant conscript.”

3. An English woman died after being poisoned by nerve agent Novichok. The mother of three and another man came into contact with the same poison that struck ex-Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in March.

4. Over 100 people were killed in landslides after heavy rains in Japan. Rescuers are continuing to search for survivors as many are believed to be trapped in their homes amid heavy flooding.

5. China reportedly told its state media to soften its criticism of US President Donald Trump. Chinese officials and state media have attacked Trump's trade policies, but have recently softened language in an attempt to avoid further complicating trade negotiations.

6. The US reportedly tried to stop a pro-breastfeeding resolution at the United Nations. Several other countries backed away from sponsoring the resolution in fear of US threats, but a compromised resolution ultimately passed.

7. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will be sworn in again on Monday. Erdogan will now have sweeping new powers which opponents say are moving the country towards authoritarianism.

8. A 1-year-old boy who was separated from his family had to go through deportation proceedings in a US court. But hundreds of children need to be reunited with their parents after being separated at the border under the Trump administration's "zero tolerance policy."

9. Syrian state media said its air defenses hit an Israeli plane and thwarted a missile strike. Israel has struck several Iranian targets in Syria in the last several months.

10. Elon Musk posted videos of the "kid-size submarine" he's sending to help rescue the Thai school boys. Engineers from SpaceX and The Boring Company are in Thailand assisting the government's rescue mission.
