Hours after President Joe Biden rolled out a series of executive orders aimed at curbing gun violence, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed a bill allowing most residents over 21 in the state to carry a gun without a permit or a background check.
Tennessee becomes the nineteenth US state to have permit-less gun carry laws.
The law will go into effect on July 1, 2021, and was a top legislative priority for Lee. In an announcement about the bill, the governor thanked the National Rifle Association for their help with the bill.
