South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem issued an apparent denial of a right-wing media report that she's having an affair with Corey Lewandowski, a longtime aide to former President Donald Trump.

The conservative website American Greatness reported on Wednesday that "multiple" anonymous sources had informed writer Pedro Gonzales that Noem is having a months-long relationship with Lewandowski, who is also married and has faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.

"These rumors are total garbage and a disgusting lie," Noem tweeted on Wednesday afternoon. "These old, tired attacks on conservative women are based on a falsehood that we can't achieve anything without a man's help."

She added of her family, "I love Bryon. I'm proud of the God-fearing family we've raised together. Now I'm getting back to work."

The 49-year-old governor has been married to Bryon Noem, an insurance executive, for 29 years and they have three adult children.

The governor has come under scrutiny this week amid an AP report that she met with the head of the state's real-estate appraiser certification program after her daughter's license application was rejected. Her daughter's license was later approved and the state employee left her post after receiving a $200,000 settlement for an age discrimination complaint. South Dakota's attorney general announced he is actively reviewing the matter.

Multiple women have accused Lewandowski, who runs a Trump political action committee, of sexual misconduct. Most recently, Trump donor Trashelle Odom accused Lewandowski of repeatedly touching her "inappropriately," saying "vile and disgusting things" to her and stalking her at a Las Vegas charity event on Sept. 26, Politico reported on Wednesday.

Lewandowski, who previously served as Trump's campaign manager, was romantically linked to Trump's former communications director, Hope Hicks, during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Neither Lewandowski, nor a spokesperson for Noem immediately responded to Insider's request for comment.
