Buying a Rolls-Royce has always been a great way to show you have plenty of cash – but the British company has now revealed a unique car that cost more than $30 million.
On Saturday the luxury carmaker unveiled La Rose Noire Droptail, a two-seater with hyper-specific features based on requests by its unnamed buyer. It is the first of just four Droptails that will be made after being commissioned by super-rich customers.
A representative told Bloomberg the car would cost more than $30 million.
The car was commissioned by an "international family," Rolls-Royce said in a press release. It was designed to the specification of the client, with the dark red tone of the car intended to exemplify "true love," and the darker tone meant to denote "mystery."
The 17-foot-long vehicle was inspired the Black Baccara rose based on the request of the seemingly art-obsessed client, who took delivery of the car near Pebble Beach, California on Saturday.
The interior of the car was also designed with excruciating detail. A triangle pattern was made using 1,603 pieces of black wood veneer made of Black Sycamore wood sourced from France.
At more than $30 million, the Droptail is one of the most expensive cars ever sold – and is a staggering sum for a non-vintage car.
Rolls-Royce didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider, made outside normal working hours.
