Less than a second. That's the time between when a Chicago police officer told the unarmed Adam Toledo, 13, to "show me your f—–g hands," and when that cop fatally shot the boy in his chest.

The officer, 34-year-old Eric Stillman, later claimed in an incident report on the March 29 incident, made public on Thursday by Chicago's Civilian Office of Police Accountability, that he had killed an adult, between the ages of 18 and 25.

And while Toledo did indeed listen to the officer's command and raise his arms, showing he was not holding any weapon after a back alley chase, Stillman asserted in a separate tactical report the deceased "did not follow verbal direction" – and that he, the officer, faced an "imminent threat of battery with [a] weapon" from a teenager, unarmed, who "used force likely to cause death or great bodily arm."

Those claims are directly rebutted by troubling footage, released earlier on Thursday, from the body cam Officer Stillman was wearing. Toledo appears to have had a gun, but dropped it before complying with the officer and raising his hands.

The shooting occurred, police say, after officers responded to a "shots fired" call and reports of "two males in a nearby alley," CNN reported.

Police initially claimed the shooting took place following an armed confrontation, an assertion the law enforcement has been forced to retract.
