Maryland-based Ocean Craft Marine makes four-by-four amphibious boats that can also operate on land.
The watercraft body is equipped with four independent motorized wheels that make the four-by-four water and land capable. This flexibility allows the vehicle and its occupants to access otherwise difficult locations and terrains, such as remote waterfronts, high tides, and shallow waters, according to its makers.
The Ocean Craft Marine 4×4 Amphibious Crafts, or OCM AMPs for short, are all custom and handmade. The vehicle-boats come in four standard sizes, but for those who want a smaller or larger build, Ocean Craft Marine can upgrade any of its boat models of varying sizes to include the amphibious option.
Several components of the OCM AMP are also specifically customizable, including the color, seating placement, and onboard accessories. For example, its makers can add a camping tent and barbecue to the boat to allow its occupants to camp overnight on land without having to leave the boat.
All of Ocean Craft Marine's amphibious boats are powered by its BAS 80-4 system, which gives the four-wheel-drive vehicle 35 horsepower and the ability to achieve 5.6 miles-per-hour, both on land, according to its maker. The system also gives the vehicle-boats 2,582 foot-pounds of torque.
Ocean Craft Marine comes in four standard versions: 7.1 M, 8.4 M, 9.5 M Beachlander, and 9.8 M.
These four versions come with slight differences, such as the number of passengers that can fit on the boats.
For example, the 7.1 M model, which is 7.4 meters — about 24.3 feet — long, can seat nine people in its boat form, and eight people while on land. The watercraft's widest point is 8.3 feet wide.
The smallest of the four standard options also has a maximum propulsion of 200 horsepower and can achieve almost 46 miles-per-hour while on the water.
However, the largest 9.8 M model, which is 10.3 meters — about 33.8 feet — long, can accommodate 15 people in its boat form, and five people while on land. The beam is 10.4 feet wide.
The model has a maximum propulsion of 800 horsepower and can hit 52.8 miles-per-hour while out at sea. It also has a large storage area for bicycles, diving and fishing gear, and water sports-related accessories, such as paddle boards.
The 9.5 M Beachlander, which is 9.6 meters — about 31.5 feet — long, is the only option that has an openable bow. This bow doubles as a platform to allow people to step from the beach directly onto the boat.
While out at sea, the Beachlander's bow can also serve as a diving and swimming ramp.
The Beachlander - which has a beam at around 9.7 feet wide - can seat 15 people on water and eight people on land. In total, it has 600 horsepower and can climb to 62.1 miles-per-hour in the water.
The final standard model, the 8.4 M, which sits at 8.8 meters — about 28.9 feet — long can serve as an alternative to yacht tenders, according to Ocean Craft Marine.
Like the Beachlander, the 8.4-meter model can seat 15 people on water and eight passengers on land. It has a maximum 350 horsepower and can climb to 49.7 miles-per-hour while out on the water.
The beam is about 8.4 feet wide.
