Meta's head of engineering and infrastructure, David Mortenson, is stepping back from his role to "recharge", a spokesperson confirmed to Insider.
Mortenson's move, first reported by The Verge, marks the third senior Meta executive to step down from their role this month.
Chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg announced her departure on June 1 and was shortly followed by Meta's AI chief, Jerome Pesenti.
Santosh Janardhan, Meta's infrastructure VP, will take over Mortsenson's role overseeing development of all hardware, software, networks, and data centers that Meta and its subsidiaries run on.
Janardhan has been at Facebook since 2009 and was previously a principal database administrator at YouTube and Google, according to his LinkedIn.
In an internal memo seen by The Verge, Mortenson said: "I'm incredibly proud of everything we've achieved over the past two years I've been supporting Infra."
He has led Meta's infrastructure team for the past two years and has been with the company for more than a decade, according to his LinkedIn profile. Mortsenson was previously director of development at Microsoft.
"For more than a decade, David and team have helped dramatically scale our infrastructure as we've helped people connect, find communities and grow businesses," a Meta spokesperson told Insider.
He will remain at Meta in an undisclosed capacity, the spokesperson said.
