Kyle Rittenhouse took to the witness stand on Wednesday to testify in his homicide trial.
Rittenhouse, 17, is charged with fatally shooting two men – Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber – and injuring a third during protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in August 2020.
The teen has argued he acted in self-defense.
Rittenhouse's defense attorney, Mark Richards, told Judge Bruce Schroeder that Rittenhouse's decision to testify was "consistent with the advice of counsel."
The judge spent a few minutes advising Rittenhouse of his rights before the teen began testifying.
Many of the witnesses presented by prosecutors during the trial offered statements that appeared to bolster Rittenhouse's claim that he acted in self-defense.
