- Japanese company Toki Sen-I Co has prepared a complaint against Kanye West and his fashion label Yeezy, LLC, with the apparent intention of suing the designer and his brand for failing to pay for a large order of fleece fabric.
- The complaint, which was first obtained by The Blast, does not appear to have been filed in court yet.
- The complaint claims that West placed a $624,051 order for 53,500 yards of fleece fabric in June 2018, but never paid.
- Toki Sen-I Co had previously sold fabrics to West beginning in 2015 without any issues before the alleged incident, according to the complaint, which was dated January 24, 2019.
- If complaint is filed, Toki Sen-I Co would seek payment for the fabric, as well as compensation for storage fees of the materials.
Kanye West appears to be in hot water with a supplier that claims he didn’t pay for fabric he ordered for his fashion label Yeezy.
Japanese fabric supplier Toki Sen-I Co alleges that the artist and designer never purchased fabric he ordered in June 2018, according to a complaint obtained by INSIDER.
The complaint, which was first reported on by both TMZ and The Blast, is dated January 24, 2019, but does not appear to have been filed yet.
According to the complaint, West placed a $624,051 order for 53,500 yards of fleece fabric in June 2018. That fabric was intended to be used throughout various Yeezy apparel designs.
But, as of 2019, Toki Sen-I Co still has not been paid for the order. If the complaint is filed, the fabric company would seek full payment for the purchase, as well as compensation for storage fees of the materials, from West and Yeezy, LLC.
According to the complaint, Toki Sen-I Co asked for a down payment when West first placed the order. The designer allegedly failed to pay.
But, because West had paid Toki Sen-I Co for orders placed as far back as 2015, the company let it slide, the complaint says.
After the fabric was ordered and produced, Toki Sen-I Co allegedly received an email stating that the fabric was no longer needed, and West would therefore not be paying.
Now, Toki Sen-I Co is calling Yeezy, LLC a "shell" and a "sham" in its complaint, alleging that Yeezy has no capital assets or member interest, which therefore allows West to shield himself from being held personally liable.
Representatives for Toki Sen-I Co, Kanye West, and Yeezy, LLC, did not immediately reply to INSIDER's requests for comment.
