- Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner took a MasterClass for his forthcoming book, per NYT.
- The former White House advisor chose the one by novelist James Patterson.
- Kushner also reportedly cranked out 40,000 words in the two weeks after the election.
After nearly four years of working in his father-in-law's White House as a senior advisor, Jared Kushner was beginning to map out how he would document the administration's legacy after it ended.
Kushner had experience in the publishing world as the onetime owner of Observer Media, but when he needed some advice on how to launch his memoir he turned to an online MasterClass led by the novelist James Patterson, according to The New York Times.
According to the Times, which based its reporting on a forthcoming book from Times reporter Peter Baker and Susan Glasser, a staff writer at The New Yorker, Kushner could tell where the presidential results were headed on election night, well before the election was officially called for Biden, and told his wife, Ivanka Trump, that they would be "moving to Florida."
Patterson's course apparently worked, as Kushner wrote a 40,000-word first draft of his memoir in two weeks after the election, per the Times.
Shortly before Trump was set to leave the White House, Kushner had been called on by Marc Short, who at the time was the chief of staff to then-Vice President Mike Pence, asking for help in reigning in the then-president as he pressured his No.2 to stop the Electoral College certification of Biden's victory.
Kushner reportedly told Short that he was "too busy" dealing with the peace talks to intervene in the situation surrounding Trump, according to The Times.
The presidential son-in-law later "rushed" to the White House in the aftermath of the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the Capitol after then-House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy called him to ask for his assistance in pressing Trump to take some sort of action against the violence at the Capitol.
And while Kushner helped broker a meeting between Trump and Pence, it could not fully erase the continued frustrations that the two over the 2020 election.
Kushner's memoir is set to be released on August 23.
