In case you didn’t know, the LED camera flash on your iPhone (as well as on your iPad Pro and iPod Touch) doubles as a flashlight, a convenient feature that you can use while walking your dog at night, looking for small objects that have fallen underneath your bed, and more.
Here’s how it’s done.
How to turn your iPhone flashlight on or off using Siri
1. To turn on your flashlight, say, “Hey Siri, turn on my flashlight,” or a similar phrase.
2. To turn off your flashlight, say, “Hey Siri, turn off my flashlight,” or a similar phrase.
3. If you have the “Listen for ‘Hey Siri'” feature disabled, press and hold the power button for iPhones with Face ID or press and hold the home button before speaking these commands.
How to turn your iPhone flashlight on or off using the Control Center
1. For iPhones with Face ID, swipe down from the upper right corner of the screen to open the Control Center. For iPhones without Face ID, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Control Center.
2. Tap the flashlight icon to turn on the flashlight. Tap the flashlight icon again to turn off the flashlight.
3. You can also turn on the flashlight from the Lock screen. For iPhones with Face ID, press and hold the flashlight icon in the bottom left corner. For iPhones without Face ID, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Control Center.
How to change the brightness of an iPhone flashlight
1. For iPhones with Face ID, swipe down from the upper right corner of the screen to open the Control Center. For iPhones without Face ID, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Control Center.
2. Press and hold the flashlight icon.
3. Tap or slide your finger along the vertical bar to turn the brightness up and down.
