iCloud is Apple’s online service that syncs data across your devices, and gives you access to features like shared photo albums, Apple Pay, Game Center, and continuity features like Handoff.
While you need to stay signed into iCloud for the service to work properly, there might be times when you want to sign out, like for privacy or security reasons.
There are two ways to sign out of iCloud. If you’ve logged into iCloud’s website online, you can sign out there. And if you have devices (like an iPhone or iPad) that are connected to your iCloud account, you can sign those out as well.
Keep in mind that if you sign out of iCloud on your iPhone or iPad, you won’t be able to use the features that rely on it. These features vary widely, so you might end up disabling features and apps that you don’t expect.
Signing out of iCloud on your devices might also remove the credit cards from your Apple Pay account, so you’ll need to set that up again if you want to use it in the future.
How to sign out of your online iCloud account in every browser you're logged in on
You can log into iCloud online through an internet browser. And once you're done, the iCloud website gives you the option of signing out of all browsers at once, meaning that you won't be logged in on any computer.
Unfortunately this will only sign you out of browsers, though, so if you want to sign out of an iOS device or Mac, see the next sections.
1. Open iCloud.com in a web browser and sign in with your Apple ID if necessary.
2. Click "Account Settings," which you'll find under your account avatar in the middle of the page.
3. At the bottom of the page, click "Sign Out Of All Browsers."
How to sign out of iCloud on all of your devices at once
There's no easy one-click way to sign out of all of your devices at once. To do it, you'll need to change your iCloud password.
1. Open iCloud.com in a web browser and sign in with your Apple ID if necessary.
2. Click "Account Settings."
3. In the My Devices section, you'll see a list of all the devices signed into your iCloud account. Click one of them.
4. In the Devices pop-up window, click the "X" to the right of each device and confirm you want to remove it. This will temporarily log them out of your iCloud account.
5. At the top of the page, under "Apple ID," click "Manage." Log in again if prompted.
6. In the Security section of the page, click "Change Password…" Follow the instructions to change the password.
7. The next time you use one of your devices, it will ask you for the new iCloud password before logging back in. You can prevent it from reconnecting to iCloud by not entering the password.
