A two-story Home Depot shed became the financial lifeline a struggling Georgia family needed in 2020 — now they're debt-free and selling it for over $300,000.
- Nick and Meghan Lucido say they paid off $82,000 of debt in nine months.
- The couple sold a Home Depot shed they flipped for over $300,000.
- The family now lives in their custom-built 'dream house'.
Nick and Meghan Lucido dreamed of having a custom-built home, according to a post on Instagram, but debt and a new baby forced them to sell their house and search for a more feasible option in March 2020.
Nine months later, Nick Lucido announced that the couple were "living tiny" in a Tuff Shed home from Home Depot, the New York Post reports. The move had allowed them to shed $82,000 in debt.
A TikTok post on the family's home in August 2020 garnered 2 million views. In the video, Lucido shows the exterior of their 860-square-foot, one-bedroom home they bought then customized along with the 8 acres of land the couple purchased in 2020.
At the request of commenters, he gave a full house tour to show just how much the tiny home had to offer the family of three. Amenities included a washer and dryer, walk-in closet, and a fully-equipped kitchen.
After saving money by living there, the couple sold the transformed home for $312,000 in December 2020. Nick Lucido took to TikTok to reveal the family's newly custom-built "dream house" on which construction began in July 2021.
"Good thing for a crazy market and people's love for tiny homes," his caption reads.
Home Depot offers a variety of sheds ranging from simple outdoor storage to residential sheds. The prices range from $3,000 to $50,000, according to the website.
