Burger King is bringing back the Sourdough King, a fan favorite, for a limited time, the fast-food chain announced on Instagram.
The Sourdough King will be available starting this week until April 19, Burger King said in an emailed statement.
The Sourdough King will come as a single or double and it will feature toasted sourdough slices that include a quarter-burger patty, topped with smoked bacon and American cheese.
As part of the promotion, Burger King will be giving a Sourdough King away to any individual with a silent G in their name for a limited time.
"Burger King has made substantial changes to the menu, including improvements to taste and food quality, through the removal of colors, flavors and preservatives from artificial sources, and the Sourdough King is no exception," the company said in the statement.
The Sourdough King was first introduced across Burger King restaurants in 2018.
The coronavirus pandemic has hit the restaurant industry hard, including some fast food chains. Buger King has seen a decline in customer traffic to its stores, according to owner Restaurant Brands International. Burger King also logged a 7.9% decline in fourth-quarter sales compared to the previous year, the company reported this month.
In the latest salvo in the fast-food chicken wars, Burger King last week announced a new chicken sandwich that will roll out later in 2021. Burger King will release four versions of the sandwich including spicy, non-spicy, and with options of lettuce and tomatoes.
The fast-food chain restaurant has been developing its new chicken sandwich since 2019.
"Having a competitive edge in chicken is definitely where the future is, and Burger King wants to be part of it," Burger King's chief marketing officer Ellie Doty told Insider in an interview.
