Ben Carson, the secretary of Housing and Urban Development, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, ABC News’ Katherine Faulders reported.

“His deputy chief of staff says he’s ‘in good spirits & feels fortunate to have access to effective therapeutics which aid and markedly speed his recovery,'” Faulders tweeted. “Carson attended the election night party at the White House.”

Carson is one of several people in President Donald Trump’s orbit who contracted the virus, which the World Health Organization declared a pandemic in March.

The US currently has the highest number of confirmed cases of any country with over 10 million.
