Spanish emergency services treating the victims of the linked attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils announced that their patients came from virtually every corner of the planet.
In an update on Friday morning, Catalonia’s emergency services posted a list on Twitter of the 34 nationalities, who comprise the 14 dead and 130 injured announced so far.
Despite the tragic circumstances, the list highlights the extent to which Barcelona is a magnet for people from every part of the world – and a regrettably obvious target for a terror attack.
At a press conference on Friday afternoon, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said: “This is a global battle.”
