- Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury sub-brand, announced pricing for its great-looking 2021 G80 sedan on Tuesday.
- With a baseline MSRP of $47,700, the G80 undercuts some of its main competitors – like the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class – which cost several thousand dollars more.
- Despite its lower price, the G80 looks just as sleek and upscale as its German counterparts – it has a massive front grille, clean lines, and a stylish interior.
- The G80 will hit US dealerships this summer, with fully loaded models retailing for roughly $70,000.

Hyundai ventured into the luxury car market nearly five years ago with the Genesis brand, and now it’s dropping a sedan that may be its best shot at taking on major players like BMW and Mercedes. The 2021 G80 is sleek as can be, and, according to official pricing the brand released on Tuesday, it’s affordable too.
The new G80 carries a base MSRP of $47,700 – that’s a $5,150 increase from the 2020 model, but it’s still several thousand dollars cheaper than comparable sedans from established luxury car brands. The BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, for instance, both retail for roughly $54,000.
While the 2021 G80 starts below $50,000, buyers who spring for a fully loaded model – with the optional 375-horsepower V6 engine, all-wheel drive, and the Prestige trim – will end up paying in the neighborhood of $70,000.
Not to mention, from a design perspective, Genesis’ newest sedan easily competes with upscale German marques. Somewhat reminiscent of Hyundai’s striking Prophecy concept, the 2021 G80 sports a sleek, curvy look that justifies its luxury claims.

Genesis, Hyundai's luxury brand, just announced pricing for the third generation of its G80 sedan. With its relatively affordable base price and sleek styling, the G80 may give the likes of Mercedes, Audi, and BMW a real challenge.
Genesis first showed off the 2021 G80 in March, and now we know the car's full specs and pricing. It retails for $47,700, but is every bit as swanky as more expensive sedans from established luxury car brands.
Up front, the G80 now has a massive, crest-shaped grille that contributes to its striking, high-end look.
The grille is framed by clean, parallel headlights, and their design is carried through to the front fender and to the car's gorgeous rear end.
The G80 gets a long, sloping roofline and overall smooth, sleek styling that's almost reminiscent of Hyundai's stunning Prophecy concept, which was revealed in March.
